Grilled Cheeze Sandwich

  • 200 g Violife Original flavour grated
  • 200 g Violife Epic Cheddar flavour block, grated
  • 100 g Violife VIOBLOCK
  • 20 g plain flour
  • 200 g plant-based milk
  • 1⁄4 tsp nutmeg
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 slices white bread, freshly cut
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  1. In a small pot over medium heat, melt VIOBLOCK. Add flour and whisk for 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  2. Slowly pour the plant-based milk whilst whisking continuously. Bring to a boil until thick and creamy. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add half of Violife Original flavour grated and stir until melted. Set aside.
  3. Cut 4 slices of bread and spread a teaspoon VIOBLOCK on each slice. Place in a pan over medium heat buttered side down. Flip when nice and golden and toast for another 3 minutes.
  4. To assemble turn the bread over and spread each slice with a thin layer of mustard, sprinkle with grated Violife and top with the other bread slice. Pour over a layer of vegan bechamel and cover with the remaining grated Violife.
  5. When your sandwiches are ready, place on a lined baking tray and bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 180°C.
  6. Switch to the grill setting for a further 5 minutes until golden and nicely melted.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle with chives and enjoy while still warm!
